Building a relationship with the most difficult student may be defined as impossible by some and very doable by others. Why the difference? This session will look at "why" relationship building, mentoring, and coaching are essential skills for educators to have in their "toolbox" inorder to achieve success with every student. No one should be "left behind." This session will highlight the work of Dr. Adam Jacks, author of Discipline Win: Strategies to improve behavior, increase ownership, and give every student a chance. Dr. French will also share her research work focused on community partnerships and how partners can support and mentor students for success. As Dr. Jacks stated in his 2021 book, "anyone can play a part in building a relationship with a student…every student needs one person…”
